Whiting Bay Description

Cobscook Bay State Park is located in Edmunds Township in eastern Maine, six miles south of Dennysville. The Park is bordered by Whiting Bay, a smaller bay located within Cobscook Bay. Whiting Bay, being far from the open ocean, is a shallow, restricted embayment. Whiting's boundaries run roughly parallel to U.S. Route 1 between East Machias & Machiasport to the west and Edmunds & Trescott to the east. Freshwater abounds here, with Gardiner Lake, Holmes Pond, Indian Lake, Josh Pond, Rocky Lake, Orange Lake, Orange River, Roaring Lake, Little Lake, Western Lake, and Eastern Lake. Not to be left out is Whiting's saltwater assets on Holmes Bay to the west, and Whiting Bay to the east.
