Sanborn Pond maintains only fair water quality for cold water sport fish. Therefore, to provide a cold water fishery the pond must be managed for brown trout, which are better able to survive under marginal water quality conditions. The lack of suitable spawning nursery areas for trout necessitates the need for stocking.
Sanborn Pond is only moderately developed along the south shore. The pond is easily accessed from State Route 137.
