Round Pond is a small kettle pond located a few
miles north of the Lewiston/Auburn metropolitan area.
Fishery management here currently emphasizes warmwater
gamefishes. October fishing for warmwater fish is
permitted at Round Pond. The pond is also open to ice
fishing.
It is possible that Round Pond could be managed for
brook trout. This could be achieved by chemically
reclaiming the pond to remove the competitory warmwater
fishes. In coming years, Department fishery biologists
will re-:-assess environmental and access conditions at
Round Pond. Recommendations will be made as to whether
a reclamation would be feasible.
