Hosmer Pond is a shallow warm water pond situated at the base of Ragged Mountain and is the head waters of the Goose River.
Early brown trout stockings did not produce a satisfactory fishing probably a result of heavy competition from the numerous warmwater fishes. Brown trout stockings resumed on an experimental basis to determine if larger size hatchery fish could better compete and survive with the warmwater species. These larger fish appear to be able to provide acceptable returns to the angler.
