Fish: Brook Trout, Salmon and Yellow Perch There is no boat launch access here. Rangeley is a wonderful four season destination. Visitors travel by road, charter air service, or fly into Portland or Bangor's international jetports, then drive two and a half hours to reach Rangeley's center where they'll get the accommodations to suit their tastes; anything from a townhouse or friendly B&B to a luxurious condo or cozy cabin retreat. Restaurants range from pizza and lobster to authentic Thai and Italian and the shops offer a wide variety of crafts and artwork by locals as well as a multitude of antiques, and sporting goods. Like a handful of small towns scattered throughout the country there are no parking meters, no traffic lights and people still wave to each other in the streets. The growth of Rangeley has not spoiled it but has conversely led to a renewed sense of commitment to the environment, outdoor traditions, fisheries, and wildlife. It is the kind of town where daily efforts in the town office, school and home are made to ensure that future generations will always know and appreciate the history and values of this small fortunate community in these western mountains of Maine.
