Brown trout were first observed in Dutton Pond during the resurvey of 1966, a result of upstream migration from Sanborn Pond. Brown trout grow well in Dutton Pond, but because spawning and nursery areas are inadequate to maintain a fishery annual stockings are necessary.
Access to the pond is via a dirt road and limited to hand carried watercraft.
