Alamoosook Lake’s peaceful surrounding habitat is home to a diverse wildlife population. The lake itself offers great Maine fishing—bass, trout, pickerel, and salmon are all in abundance! (But, keep in mind you’ll have to throw back any salmon you catch—it’s a Maine law.) In autumn, as the fall foliage reflects brilliantly off its tranquil surface, the lake is transformed by a truly sensational blaze of colors that you won’t want to miss. In the winter months, ice skating and ice fishing take center stage. The lake is 1,133 acres, 28 ft. max depth; public boat launch at Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery, E. Orland.
The ranking score is used to determine how "popular" a trip or location is. It is calculated based off of a weighted average of the number of reviews and the user ratings. For example, a location with 2 reviews and an average rating of 5 will have a lower "ranking score" than one with 10 reviews and an average rating of 4. This is because even though the first location has a better average rating, it has not been reviewed as much as the second location, so it is not as "popular". In the future we may modify the ranking score to take in additional factors, such as the number of views, comments, and photos.
